I Believe in Myself!

Life can sometimes be difficult. We have a hard time seeing how it will pan out in our favor, or we often think too much about the future or the past, allowing it to hold us back from our true potential in this moment.

I always ask others who seem to worry or think more than they actually live, “what does worrying do for you, rather than make the situation seem worse than it actually is?” or “Why are you spending so much of your time thinking about what could be when you have the opportunity to live perfectly in this moment, with no fears or worries?”

Now, although I lend advice to others, it is now MYSELF who is having trouble with living in the moment and letting the future be. Because I have first hand witnessed how this way of living has effected me (in the past couple days), being short with friends and family, having zero to no patience, and allowing my ego to blow everything out of proportion, I have made the decision to STOP. I have control and I am taking it back!

Of course life may not be “perfect” right now, but my attitude has only worsened my situation. What is the saying? “As one door closes another one opens.” Well that is my motto right now and I am closing the negative thinking and opening the door to positive thinking. 🙂

BECAUSE…

DROP THE MIND #Anam Thubten Rinpoche

This past weekend opened my heart to see even more of my true self. I attended a meditation retreat and was blessed to be in the presence of one of the greatest Buddhist teachers, Anam Thubten Rinpoche. I went to the retreat with the intention of furthering my meditation practice, not realizing that I would be in the presence of a magnificent human.

There were many enlightening teachings he shared with us throughout the retreat. I didn’t bring a writing tool or anything to write on (until the final day), but because his words were so empowering, there was no need to write any of them down. My heart opened up and took them inside, hopefully to never forget him or his words.

I want to share with everyone what I thought were the most powerful moments of the retreat.

It is not easy to convey his messages via writing, because there are no real words for what I experienced. However, I will try my best to explain the past couple of days in a few short, but wonderful words.

DROP THE MIND

SURRENDER to any Concept or Belief you feel is making you suffer.

EXHAUST yourself with your concepts, beliefs, and thoughts so that the only way out is to DROP THE MIND.

Once you DROP THE MIND, you will be awakened to your true self and what will reveal itself is PURE Freedom, PURE Awareness, and PURE Emptiness (Emptiness: Once you rid yourself of all your made up beliefs about yourself and life all that will remain is Pure Emptiness).

So how do we achieve such things? The first step is to become more aware of our thoughts and our life. We must begin to train our minds to focus and live in the present moment. It begins with…

Mind Control.

Meditation is a very useful practice to help train our minds. Meditation allows us to become more aware of our thoughts, which then helps us to control our thoughts. Once we have learned to control our thoughts we can then begin to un-attach ourselves from the delusive beliefs and concepts we have created throughout our lives.

Daily meditation or even meditating 2-5 times a week will have a profound impact on the quality of your life.

Meditation Practice:
Sit with yourself in silence for five minutes. Focus your awareness on the breath, the inhale and exhale. When a thought arises, don’t label it as good or bad, simply observe it and then let it go, returning your awareness back to your breath. REPEAT.

Once we have learned the practice of meditation, dropping the mind will not seem so foreign. After meditating for only three weeks you will see a vast change and will be more aware of yourself and your life. If at times you feel overwhelmed by the busyness of your mind, simply ask yourself to “Drop the Mind”. It will become easier once you tame your mind to live in the present moment, because that is what mediation is. It is living for right now, for this very moment!

“Saying that you don’t have time to improve your thoughts and your life is like saying you don’t have time to stop for gas because you are too busy driving. Eventually it will catch up to you.” – The Monk who Sold his Ferrari.

If you would like to learn more about Anam’s retreats you can go his website and check out his schedule. He is one busy man, traveling every other week, however he travels all over the U.S. as well as internationally.

It is better to fall down many times and get up, then to have not tried and always wonder “What If?”

We will all face challenges in our lifetime. We must look at challenges as stepping-stones. They show us the way, yet make it a bit difficult as to make sure we want it bad enough to get back up and get it!

Evan Garcia GoPro Video! #WhiteWaterKayaking

My boyfriend, Evan Garcia, has an unbeatable passion for whitewater kayaking! Paddling ever since he was a young boy, it has now become his life, passion, and love. He travels the world searching for class five white water. He has an unmeasurable liberty while pursuing his passion. It is humbling to witness, as Evan embarks on kayaking 100 foot waterfalls, paddles rivers most of us will never see, and ventures to the most remarkable and beautiful sights of nature.

Now that Evan has made a name for his self in the sport of whitewater kayaking, he utilizes his unique filming abilities to share with the world his adventures of kayaking and the explorations he finds while doing so.

He put together this five-minute video to show everyone a glimpse of what he does and how he captures his footage while on the river. All of this video is captured on a small Go Pro camera. It is amazing that we are able to see his explorations and days on the river through this tiny camera he can attach to his helmet and kayak!

ENJOY!!!

Happiness Is…

This page is dedicated to being HAPPY!

I wanted to create a page that showed a glimpse of my happiness! I hope many of you can relate and also be inspired!

Happiness has always been #1 priority in my life. I have given myself the time to explore what happiness means to me and throughout my journey, I have found that I have many definitions of Happiness.
I wanted to uniquely share my happiness through pictures, quotes, and sayings, to hopefully inspire and guide others to their own Happiness. 🙂
Below is a timeline (not in order) that sums up my happiness. I will most likely be adding to this page as the days progress, but for now ENJOY what you see! 🙂
And while browsing ask yourself, “what brings me happiness?” and then PURSUE! 🙂

Cheers!

Because Kindness keeps the World Afloat!

Life Vest created such an inspiring video to encourage everyone to be more kind toward one another!

The great thing about performing random acts of kindness is that those acts cause a ripple effect to occur. You perform an act of kindness towards another being and soon it catches up to you, showing you that Karma does exist and treating others with kindness brings more kindness your way!

I say that we all carry out a random act of kindness towards another being (a person we don’t know) and see what comes our way! I will go first and then once I receive a random act of kindness I’ll write a new post and call it “The Rippling Effect of Kindness!”

Live with Intention! The Intention of being KIND!

Cheers! 🙂
